Wegbeschreibung war sehr Schlecht beschrieben.Wir haben die Unterkunft erst am Sonntag gefunden.Auch die Einheimischen wussten nicht genau wo es war der eine sagte da oben der ander da unten,auch mit dem Tel. wussten wir nicht wie es funkioniert.Am anderen Tag konnte half uns eine Frau von den Hotel wo wir Uebernachten mussten da wir bis 21Uhr gesucht hatten.Nun wenn man wusste wo war es nicht mehr schwer zu finden. Mann hätte nun bei der Beschreibung schreiben sollen nach 150m links abbiegen dann wäre es klar gewesen, nicht nach 150m haben sie das Ziel erreicht,den da standen wir ja auf der Srasse, oder ein Wegweiser wäre auch gut gewesen.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] The itinerary desciption was very bad. We did not find the accommodation until Sunday. Even the locals did not know exactly where it was, one of them said up there, the other down there, even with the phone we did not know how it worked. The next day the lady in the hotel where we had to stay overnight because we were looking tuntil 9 pm helped us. Well if you knew where it was, it's not hard to find. They should have written in th itinerary to turn left after 150m then it would have been clear, not : after 150m you have reached the goal since you are along a road, or a sign post would have been good too.
We enjoyed a fantastic week at Il Barattino.
Paola was there upon our arrival making us feel very welcome indeed.
The two houses were immaculately clean and were perfect dwellings for us (9 adults and a toddler).
The air conditioning was superb (on the lowest setting it bordered on freezing but that was just right for us fair skinned Scots/Irish in the near 40degree heat outside).
The pool was very clean and was tested several times during our stay.
There's lots of outside seating available - ranging from pool loungers to tables and chairs both in the sun and shade - giving plenty of opportunity for al fresco dining and afternoon refreshments.
The views from both houses are gorgeous - it's not often you would look out of your kitchen window to vineyards, blue skies and the beautiful Tuscan hills.
In terms of laction, it is a great base to visit Cortona, the lakes, Assisi and Siena - although a car would be essential.
We had a magnificent time here and were very well looked after by the hosts - who even made us a huge feast of Italian food on one of our nights!

The villa was wonderful and the view from the pool was outstanding. The property manager was very pleasant and helpful. The proximity to the village and neighboring resort made it easy for us to walk to two most wonderful restaurants. The only critisism I have is the walk up to the pool. The pathway is a little rough and could use some lights along it. The path was difficult to walk in the evening. Other than that, the villa and the property was very comfortable and well appointed. Oh...wifi would also be a nice add.
Casavecchia has been a good solution for our holidays with friends. The house is in a very green and calm area of Tuscany, with excellent view over the hills and the woods. we especially appreciated the fact to be immersed into the nature and the wild. The rooms are nice and generally well kept, as the entire house. The spaces outside (garden, swimming pool, portico) are excellent and we lived most of the time outside. Even if hot outside, the house have always been cold and comfortable: no need of air conditioning also during the hot italian summer!
The person living beside the villa (Brita) is very helpful and discrete.
A couple of details could be improved so to make Casavecchia an excellent solution for holidays:
- the "zanzariere" (the nets in the windows to protect against mosquitos) are old and several of them are broken. This is extremely annoying because in the evenings it is full of insects
- the house has no wifi and very poor mobile coverage, therefore it is difficult to have a reasonable internet connection. I think that it would be possible to install a fixed telephone line with wifi capabilities
All in all, a good holiday location
Everything was perfect (location, view, apartment, pool, availability of staff at reception, etc) except the mosquitos. Anti-mosquitos blinds would be a greatly appreciated plus as they would allow to sleep with the windows open.
Das Appartment war ausgezeichnet. Die Einrichtung war stilvoll und liebevoll eingerichtet, teils mit antiquarischen Möbeln.Gut bestückter Haushalt,dem nichts fehlte.Großzügige Räume für vier Personen. Netter Garten zur alleinigen Benutzung mit schattigen Eß- und Grillplatz. Castiglionchello ist ein sehr schöner Badeort. Empfehlenswert für Schnorchler und Strandfreunde. Auch für kleine Kinder super geeignet. Für Ausflüge in die Toscana ist der Ort ideal gelegen.

Well-stocked household, where nothing was missing. Spacious rooms for four people. Nice garden for exclusive use with shaded dining and barbecue area. Castiglionchello is a very nice resort. Recommended for snorkelers and beach lovers. Super suitable for small children. For trips to Tuscany, the place is ideally located.

We enjoyed a great holiday in Viareggio. The house is great, clean and has lots of space around it. The owners / representatives were very hospitable. We were helped with many suggestions of places to visit, they arranged internet access and on top of this we received a very nice welcome gift. The only thing which we did not like were the many mosquitos, which prevented us from sitting outside in the evening. However, supported by the some anti-mosquito sprays and candles they did not spoil our holidays! Many thanks for a great holiday!
