Massanera may be the best place we have ever stayed. Our host Carlo is one of a kind. At the age of 80 he is still working the farm every day but he finds a lot of time to interact with his guests. We stayed 8 nights and Carlo treated us two nights to dinners with him and other guests at Massanera. Carlos speaks at least four languages so the guests from various places can interact. Marco, who works for Carlo, did a great job cooking the dinners. We all sat at a long table, eating mostly foods grown on his farm - wild pig, deer, wine, olive oil, prociutto, limoncello, and more I have probably forgotten. Massanera wine is very good. A feast! Massanera property is stunningly beautiful with long range views of rolling hills planted with grapes, olives, and lemons and mountains behind. Everything is lush green in April. The villa was beautiful, immaculate and just right for our needs. The area was very scenic and the pool was refreshing.
